Lets get active and welcome to #activeOctober!  This month we feature and xplor with our friends in the Active “class”ification!  There are so many wonderful active Partners in kidzxplor that really want to help get and keep your kids moving and staying busy.  With so many distractions with technology today- sometimes the simplest thing- moving- can be hard to do- especially when the weather changes and it’s harder to get outside. There are so many options from martial arts, soccer, dance, gymnastics, surf bootcamp, and yoga!  A few of our featured Partners are listed below with an explanation of how they get busy in classes and activities- and how you can join them via kidzxplor!  kidzxplor offers thousands of opportunities each month to keep your kid moving.

Open Plays

Sometimes you just want to have a little fun without so much structure.  kidzxplor Open Plays are great for that when you want to bounce, jump, run, and fly.  With opportunities from Jump4Fun and Rockin’ Jump– sometimes its fun just to let loose and go crazy.

Active kids are the key to our future and society.  Active kids are healthy kids and healthy kids are happy kids.  Help your child be active to fight the rising childhood obesity rate. Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. The percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 18% in 2012. In 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.  We can do something about it- something thats fun and keeps kids engaged and happy.

kidzxplor also believes that ALL kids should have opportunities to have fun, use their bodies, and be active.  For the month of October- kidzxplor has partnered with KEEN St. Louis as our non-profit of the month in kidzxplorCommunity.  KEEN St. Louis’ mission is to empower youth with disabilities by providing free, non-competitive one-to-one programs of exercise, fitness and fun, led by volunteer coaches.  The vision for KEEN is to foster confidence, self-esteem and community inclusion for youth with disabilities; strengthen communities through education of volunteers; and provide families with respite and a supportive network.  We couldn’t agree more and are thrilled to work with them this month at our kidzxplorCommunity Event on October 28th at Logan University in Chesterfield.  At this event, children have the opportunity to volunteer with the children of KEEN to help them with fun games and activities and just have a good time.  Volunteering opportunities for children are slim and we hope that you will join us in a fun Fall afternoon.
